So I have actually finished a few books over the last week or so but I don't know that I have enough thoughts on any of them to make a full review for each one by itself. Soooo I thought I would give you my opinions about all of them here. The first one I finished was The Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie This was interesting but I was expecting to enjoy it so much more than I actually did. I thought that the ending was a little lack luster for me in terms of mystery endings. I didn't really connect with any of the characters but I did want to know who did it so I pushed through. I gave this book a 3 out of 5 starts on Goodreads but on a scale of 1-10 I think I would give it a 5.5 I thought that the mystery was interesting but I just wasn't pleased with the way things concluded. The next book I read was Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo Now this one I probably could do a whole separate review of but for now just know that I REALLY enjoyed it. I was i...

The Picture of Dorian Gray Review

Image
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde So I have been trying to push myself to read more classics over the last few years and actually give them a chance. I know for me the hardest thing about reading a classic was the language that was used when the book was originally published. To some this might not affect the ability to read the book but for me this was always a thing that kept me away. This is a story about a young man whom everyone that comes into contact with him believes that he is the most handsome and charming young man they have ever met. In the beginning Dorian is a handsome, charming, and naive man. He is painted by a man who has an almost weird obsession with Dorian. The painting is marvelous and many people want this portrait. Dorian ends up keeping the portrait and making a wish that instead of the painting staying the same for all time that he would. This story is such an interesting commentary on the way that we as humans see beauty and the way that we o...

T5W Forgettable Books

Image
T5W  (Top 5 Wednesday) is a Goodreads group. Each week there are topics to discuss. This week the topic is to discuss our Forgettable Books. Here are my Top 5 Most Forgettable Books For this topic I am going to be discussing books that I loved but I don't remember anything about them. 5. Zodiac by Romina Russell I remember that this book has something to do with the zodiac sign and there is space ships but other than that I don't really remember much about it. I remember loving it when I was reading it though so I think a theme we are going to see here is that these are books I need to reread. 4. Graceling by Kristin Cashore I remember that the main character has two different colored eyes and that is because she has special powers. What those powers are and what else the story is about I couldn't tell you. 3. The Baker's Memory by Emily Echols This is a book written by someone I actually know and I feel really bad that I don't remember mor...

A Darker Shade of Magic Review

Image
A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab This is a story about our main character Kell who is an Antari which means that he possess the power to travel between alternate Londons. This story is very adventurous and has so many great characters woven through out. If I had to give this a star rating I would give it a 3.5 but since Goodreads doesn't do half stars I rated it 4 stars on Goodreads. I have tried to read this book a couple times before and I just never could get into the story but upon picking it up this time I really found myself in the mood for the story that was being told. So there are four different Londons which Kell has named Grey London (which has no magic), White London (which has magic but isn't thriving as well), Red London ( which is where Kell lives and is thriving with magic), and Black London (which has been shut off from the rest of the world.) I thought that the world building for this story was good. I didn't feel like the world was quit...
