Currently finished

So I have actually finished a few books over the last week or so but I don't know that I have enough thoughts on any of them to make a full review for each one by itself. Soooo I thought I would give you my opinions about all of them here.

The first one I finished was The Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie

This was interesting but I was expecting to enjoy it so much more than I actually did. I thought that the ending was a little lack luster for me in terms of mystery endings. I didn't really connect with any of the characters but I did want to know who did it so I pushed through. I gave this book a 3 out of 5 starts on Goodreads but on a scale of 1-10 I think I would give it a 5.5 I thought that the mystery was interesting but I just wasn't pleased with the way things concluded.

The next book I read was Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
Now this one I probably could do a whole separate review of but for now just know that I REALLY enjoyed it. I was invested the whole time and I can see why so many people talk about the Darkling. I can not wait to move on to the next one very soon. I really enjoyed getting to see Alina's growth as a character through out the book and how she learned about her powers. I think that this series could definitely could see this series becoming a new favorite of mine. I gave this book a 4 out of 5 stars on Goodreads but on a scale of 1-10 I would probably give this an 8.5

After Shadow and Bone I saw the videos announcing the short list for the Booktube SFF Awards. While I was looking at the short list I noticed that I needed to read a few books to be able to participate in the readalongs of the short listed books so I picked up theses next two so that I can read the next books in the series.

First off I reread Binti by Nnedi Okorafor
I remember reading this a couple of years ago for the SFF awards and not really understanding it but this time around it made a little more sense. I still didn't like it quiet as much as I would have hoped but I did get a little more out of it than the first time I read it. I gave this short story a 3 out of 5 on Goodreads but on a scale of 1-10 I would probably give this 5. I think that the story is interesting and that the representation of a different culture was done so well. I just didn't enjoy this story as much as I would have liked. I am interested to see where the story goes from here though.

The last book I want to talk about is Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi
I went into this book not really expecting much because I had heard all of the hype when this book first came out on YouTube but the story didn't really intrigue me, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. I thought that this story was cute and whimsical. I really enjoyed our main character of Alice and the relationship that she had with her father. I still haven't completely made up my mind about Oliver. I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars on Goodreads but on a scale of 1-10 I think I would rate this an 7.5. I can see potential for the story so I am ready to continue on with the series to see where the story goes.

So those are some of the books that I have currently finished if you want separate reviews of any of these books let me know in the comments.

Love always,
Missy
